“Last semester went well for me! I took the MCAT after studying over the summer, and I scored in the 96th percentile. I was able to continue volunteering as a medical assistant at a local non-profit clinic in Athens. I also finished the semester with all A’s, receiving a Presidential Scholar award. The club Spikeball team that I captain won both sectionals during the Fall semester and we hope to continue the success in the Spring. Thank you for reaching out!”
Corrissa Velder, Univ of Georgia, Class of 2026
“I'm excited to share with you that I had a wonderful fall semester of my junior year attending the University of Alabama! I'd have to say that this past semester was one of my favorites! I saw great success in the classroom by earning all A's and making the Presidents List at the end of the academic term. I continue to learn so much in my classes about the different elements within the hospitality industry. I took classes where I learned how to be a successful supervisor in the hospitality industry, the elements of private club management, event marketing strategies and so much more!
In addition to my academic updates, I started a new job working at a women's clothing boutique. The days that I get to work have quickly become some of my favorite days of the week! I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the people in Tuscaloosa and my new coworkers. Having an outlet to put my efforts into that's different than school has been such a blessing and brought balance to my schedule.”
Jennifer Richardson, Alabama, Class of 2026
“I am thankful to have completed my fifth semester at NC State this past fall, making it my fifth time on the Dean's list. My coursework was a mix of my two majors, Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and French Language and Culture. While it was a busy semester, it was also fun! Balancing my schoolwork with my student involvement is one of the best parts of being in college because it makes my time more fulfilling and allows me to grow as a leader. My student involvement includes:
- Recording and Corresponding Secretary of the Mu Omicron Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated
- Student Ambassador for Poole College of Management, Director of Membership
- Resident Advisor
- Caldwell Fellow (A scholarship and stipend-based leadership development program designed to teach students how to become better servant leaders in their respective fields)
- Administrative Assistant for Poole College of Management (Work-study position)
I am blessed to have the support of the Heroes of the Lowcountry and look forward to continuing to share my endeavors with you all.”
Makalya Richardson, North Carolina State, Class of 2026
“The fall semester at Univ of South Carolina went great. It was my first semester here because I transferred from a really small school. This was probably the best decision I've made. “
